For those alumni who live in the Boston area and are looking for ways to volunteer, please consider joining Boston Cares. http://www.bostoncares.org/ It costs only $20 (one time orientation fee) to join and you can access over 150 volunteer opportunities each month around the greater Boston area. Their website is really easy to navigate and their online system even emails you reminders on events that you have signed up. It is also simple to remove yourself from an event should you have to cancel. Fortunately, they offer volunteer opportunities during the day, evening and weekend as finding volunteer opportunities during the evenings was especially important to me. So far, some of the organizations that I have assisted include the Prisoner Book Program, The Huntington Theatre, The Boston Living Center and Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic.
Boston Cares is a member of the HandsOn Network and Points of Light Institute, an international organization which inspires, equips, and mobilizes people to take action that changes the world. At the center of the network are 370 affiliates serving 83% of the American population and 12 international communities.
Welcome to the 90K...It's All About Time Blog!
To celebrate the 90th Anniversary of Emmanuel College, we asked you to take time to make a difference by raising 90,000 alumni volunteer hours during our anniversary year...and you have!
Over the past several months, I have so enjoyed hearing what you are doing to contribute to 90K. Now, with the launch of the 90K blog, you can share your experiences and ideas with everyone in the Emmanuel community. Please let us know what you are doing to make a difference.
With best wishes,
Jennifer Puccetti, '89 Chair, 90K...It's All About Time
